How to Use the Exact KB Target Image Resizer
This tool helps you resize images and produce an output file that matches a specific file-size target (for example, turn a 15 KB photo into a ~150 KB file). It runs entirely in your browser — no upload to any server — and supports JPG, WEBP and PNG. Follow the simple steps below to get accurate results.
Quick overview
- Input options: Select file, drag & drop, or paste from clipboard.
- Resize modes: Exact dimensions (width × height) or scale by percentage.
- Format: JPG, WEBP (best for size control) or PNG.
- KB target: Set the desired file size (e.g., 150 for 150 KB). The tool adjusts quality and pads output if necessary to reach the target.
Step-by-step: Resize to an exact KB
- 1. Add your image: Click Select File, drag & drop into the box, or paste an image.
- 2. Choose resize mode: Pick Dimensions to type width/height or Percent to scale by percent (e.g., 150 to enlarge by 50%).
- 3. Choose output format: Select JPG or WEBP for best KB control. PNG can be used but does not compress predictably.
- 4. Set KB target: Enter the desired size in KB (10–1000). Click Enable to activate targeting.
- 5. (Optional) Load Pica: For higher-quality upscaling, click Load Pica (requires internet). Then choose Pica as the algorithm.
- 6. Process: Click Process & Download. The tool will try quality adjustments and, if necessary, pad the file so the final size matches the target.
- 7. Download: Preview the result and click the download button. The image remains viewable even if padded with extra bytes.
Tips & important notes
- Prefer JPG/WEBP for precise KB control — they support lossy quality changes.
- If the original image is very small, first upscaling (increase pixels) helps reach larger KB targets more naturally.
- Padding appends harmless bytes so browsers still display the image; choose padding only when necessary.
- For high-quality enlargements, use the Pica option (best for photographic images).
- All processing is local — your images are not uploaded to any server.
